How Can I Raise a Reader?

As a former first grade teacher, and a mother of two, I know that parents are concerned with raising children who will be successful in school and in life.  Learning to read, learning to love to read, is a large part of that success.  This website contains a collection of tips and resources to help you, as a parent, get off to a great start along the road to reading with your child.

This site is not meant to be a tool for teaching your child to read.  Rather, the ideas here should enable you to read with your young child in meaningful ways.  The literature experiences you provide will help prepare your child to get the most out of future academic instruction.

“Reading to your little one is just like putting gold coins in the bank.  It will pay you back tenfold.
Your daughter will learn, and imagine, and be strong in herself.
Your son will thrive and give your love back forever.”
